Don't know about "Worst" Dead show ever. Worst show by the Dead would have to be the Inaugural Ball. As for the GRATEFUL Dead, I'm hesitant to say "Worst ever". Yeah, there are moments that are extraordinarily painful, but others that sound OK. I have a feeling this is going to spark some good conversation.

I wouldn't ever use the term worst, since I don't have sufficient perspective, or enough concert listens under my belt, to use such an absolute term. I just thought it was funny that the one time they played at my HS it evoked such strong negative reactions from listeners (kind of a Charlie Brown moment). Also, depending on your perspective, the worst GD show might be far superior to the "best" show of so many other groups.....

Well, sorry, but that's just absurd.

Was that Inaugural performance bad? I saw the setlist and thought it might have been a nice little show.

If your comment is some kind of political or anti-political statement, or you just hate the band without Garcia, you can keep it to yourself.

Objection, overreaching.

I don't "hate" the band w/o Garcia, but thus far I've heard nothing to make me want to get up out of my seat....

Please point me to the rules concerning what is and is not allowable content per posting on the threads. I always forget and hate to keep asking.

You must love everything the band ever did, no wait that;'s not it

You must hate every show they played in the 90's, no that aint it

You must think the band sucked after 1969, no that aint it

You must review the same songs and shows but never go off on any tangent unrelated to the band thusly ensuring that you will never get turned on to any other band, no that ain't it

you must never get political, well that's close to it but wait....

rules suck!

except the ones I make my kids follow, it being under my roof and all

I create rules for my kids to follow, but they don't follow them. They just call me a mean dad and say "mommy said it was OK".

How do you get your kids to actually follow rules?

That's why I always resort to saying "JOTS is mean! I don't want to agree with him! CLIFF said it's okay!"

Hmmm, I hope that doesn't mean CLIFF's like my mom or somethin...

I found that saying "Either you clean your room like I asked you to, or Dad will start blasting 23 consecutive Box of Rain's at full volume" seemed to work rather well.

hey SDH - my son and I like to play Sugaree to annoy his sister ( my daughter ) because she's branded that tune as torture.

Yeah, I always thought the worst was 7/6/86 or 7/7/86. I was at one of these RFK shows and I don't even remember Jerry being on stage for second part of show - in my mind it was the Bob & Bobby show and it was truly horrific. Bob Dylan was horrible.

That last RFK gig's first set could go down in GD history as the worst first set ever. Not kidding. If you listen to an aud copy of the ramble on Rose you'd think he's was already in the coma. And then to attempt Must've Been the roses...train wreck doesn't even come close to describe.

The worst set i saw in person has to be oakland 1995, the Chinese NY show. The first set may come in at 30 mins but can't be sure.

It's funny to me, but many deem Boreal Ridge to be among the worst. I was there and had a blast with my Tahoe/Santa Cruz area friends, but honestly don't recall any of the songs - it was just fun having the boys in the neighborhood outside on the hill. Squaw a few years later was similar for JGB shows (with Nevilles, Neil w/ Booker T, Bela ?, etc.) - fun shows but sound pretty thin.
